I never thought that I would get through so much in such a short period of time.  I recommend that students who have dropped out of school gain their confidence and come to The Q foundation to get their GED, at least. As for me, my experience at The Q foundation was the best!

I was a troubled youth who could not control my behavior.  This led to my being expelled from school for a period of time.  During this time I was locked up and had to drop out of school.  I also went through some tragic situations that changed my life.

I heard about The Q Foundation; how I could get a second chance to further my education.  I did, and received my G.E.D.  While going to The Q Foundation, I had two children and a few jobs.  I received a scholarship and have not been locked up in two years.
Mr. Q heard that I have a passion for Rap Music and signed me to a record label he has established.

Ms. Renee took the time to get to know me.  She helped me to become who I am, to make something of my life.  When Mr. Brooks realized how determined I was about my education, he did whatever it took to help me. Mr. Rob and Mr. Marvin kept it real with me.  Mr. and Mrs. Brooks, and Ms. Ashley like me because I am handsome.

The Mindset of a Champion, a Book written by Stephan Askew, describes all The Q Foundation has discovered in many individuals throughout the program.  From my experience with The Q Foundation, as it relates to education, it is well beyond any other program in Mecklenburg County.  It does not just teach, but provides life skills that are effective as it helps each individual.

Over the past 2 years, The Q Foundation has been more than just a resource I have worked with, but also a natural support system.  The Q Foundation is one of my biggest testimonies of “Paying It Forward” to becoming a Champion with tools of leadership, self-discipline, courage, faith, selflessness and qualities of making a difference in young adults.

I moved to Charlotte from New York at the beginning of my freshman year of high school.  I was a pretty good student as far as grades, up until my sophomore year.  I began to fall behind in math as time went on, which caused me to be a few math credits short by my senior year.  The only options I had were to either enroll in night school or graduate a semester behind my class.  I decided to go the night school route although I knew it was going to be a challenge to maintain my grades in day school as well as night school.  I had my work cut out for me, but I maintained focus.  I was doing well in both day and night school, until I got into a fight in day school which messed up everything.  The fight lead to my getting suspended from day school for ten days, and when I enrolled in night school they made it very clear that I could not miss ten days.  The fight resulted in my getting kicked out of night school.  Together, my parents and I had to make one of the toughest decisions ever.  We had to decide if it would be more beneficial for me to stay in school an extra semester or get my high school equivalency diploma.  After we weighed our options we decided it was best if I signed out of the CMS system.  I called the Bridge Foundation and The Q Foundation.  The Bridge Foundation accepted me immediately while The Q Foundation placed me on a waiting list.  I went to the Bridge Foundation and began the registration process.  A few days later The Q Foundation called me to set up an interview.  My dad was very happy because he really thought The Q Foundation would be the best place for me and he was absolutely right. I have experienced some great things and met some wonderful people.  I have completed all 5 of my tests at CPCC, and with the help of the instructors at The Q Foundation, have a job as a computer instructor at Twork Technology that I couldn’t be happier about.  I want to thank everyone at The Q Foundation for believing in me.  You guys are the reason that I believe I have a bright future to look forward to.
